**ABOUT THE KINDERGARTEN LITERACY CURRICULUM**

This Kindergarten Literacy Curriculum is phonics based with engaging hands-on activities for an entire year of literacy fun! This curriculum contains 9 full units which make for 180 days of school. Each unit has 20 days worth of lessons that correspond with the hands-on activities.

What skills & standards are met in this curriculum?

There are standard skill lists provided for each unit so there is no guessing as to what is covered. The skill lists also indicate which skills are covered in each lesson. This provides teachers with a clear vision for the implementation of each unit.

What Makes this curriculum unique?

This curriculum provides hands-on application for each skill that is introduced. The units provide for interaction with manipulatives, sound and phonics practice, as well as fun and engaging activities. Teachers are provided with a lesson plan guide for each day. Learn 2 Read Leveled Fluency is one of our most popular reading & phonics activities that you can do EVERY DAY with your students! Learn to read activity pages are made for children to practice sounds, segmentation, and fluency. I created these using training I received in research-based early reading strategies. These skill pages are especially helpful for children who need extra reading intervention. However, they are also fun for extra practice, or addition to your main curriculum. These learn to read leveled fluency packs are just that – leveled. Level A starts with simple phonemic awareness, and beginning sounds. The following levels (B & C) grow in phonetic complexity.

What Skills are Covered in Learn 2 Read Leveled Fluency?

• LEVEL A: saying sounds, blending & segmentation, finding beginning sounds, short vowels, and reading blends.
• LEVEL B: blending & segmentation, beginning consonant blends, short vowel words, ending sounds, long vowel words, rhyming words, syllables to 3, short vowel word families, reading simple sentences, and sight words (the, is, and, in, for, you).
