One-day brioche cowl

Construction

The cowl is worked mostly in round, in one-colour brioche stitch with nice finishings in stockinette stitch and i-cord ties. The stitches are cast on using provisional cast-on and worked in round in stockinette to double-height of finishing. The provisional cast-on then is unravelled and joined to form the double edge. Brioche knitting in round is introduced and worked for the body of the cowl. The top finishing edge is worked flat to its height to form an opening for the ties, then joined to work in the round for the inner layer. As the last step the stitches are connected to the edge’s start and stitches are cast off at the same time. The i-cord tie is made and threaded through.

Yarn

Two strands of yarn are held through the knitting:

• Yarn A: DK weight yarn (11 wpi), 200 m / 219 yds / 100 g.
• Yarn B: Lace weight yarn (30 wpi), 300 m / 328 yds / 50 g.

For the measurements given, you will need:

• Yarn A: 150 (170) m / 165 (185) yds.
• Yarn B: 145 (160) m / 160 (175) yds.

Yarn estimates include an additional 15% for swatching and contingency.

Tad pagaidu apmetums tiek atārdīts un vaļējie valdziņi savienoti ar darba valdziņiem, veidojot dubulto apmali. Šalles pamatu veido patentadījums aplī, kas tiek adīts līdz pat otrai dubultai apmalei. Dubultā apmale sākotnēji tiek adīta plaknē, izveidojot atveres aukliņai, tad savienota darbam aplī un adīta līdz dubultam apmales augstumam. Apmale tiek ielocīta uz iekšpusi un valdziņi tiek savienoti ar apmales sākuma rindu un noraukti vielaicīgi. Nobeigumā tiek adīts aukliņveida striķītis.
