Together Apart Hat Knitting Pattern

DESCRIPTION
My Together Apart Hat is a design dreamed up in this current world of social distancing and missing the ones I love dearly. I find myself so grateful that we live in times where technology can keep us connected to one another. As I knit each stitch I was reminded that even while apart, we’re all in this together.
The pattern uses simple, meditative, slipped stitches to create the texture and blending of colors. It’s a quick and easy knit, with soothing stockinette rows, and enough variety in the stitches to keep a knitter’s interest. Using small amounts of your favorite DK or Sport weight yarn, this project is a great stash-buster too!

Baby (6-12 Months) fits approx. 16” around
Toddler (1-3 Years) fits approx. 18” around
Teen-Adult Small fits approx. 21” around
Adult Large fits approx. 23” around
YARN
DK or Sport Weight Yarn in 2 colors, 130 to 190 yds
Approximate total yards needed for each size:
Baby = 130 yds (119m) / Toddler = 140 yds (128m)
Teen-Adult Small = 170 yds (156m) / Adult Large = 190 yds (174m)
Samples use 2 colors of:
Rowan Felted Tweed – 191 yds (175m) per 50g, 50% Merino, 25% Alpaca, 25% Viscose
OR
Euro Baby Babe100 – 356 yds (325m) per 100g, 55% Nylon, 45% Acrylic
NEEDLES & NOTIONS
3.75 mm / US Size 5 DPNs or 16” Circular Knitting Needles
4.0 mm / US Size 6 16” Circular Knitting Needles
4.0 mm / US Size 6 Double Pointed Needles for Decreasing Crown
A Row Counter is recommended but not required
1 Stitch Marker for Beginning of Round
GAUGE
22 stitches x 30 rows in Pattern Stitch = 4 inches (10 cm) using 4.0 mm (US Size 6) needles, unblocked
POM-POM (optional)
Add an optional pom-pom (faux or fur) for an extra little touch!
