"Black Sunrise" Quantum Series: Book 1

Cindy-Mei Winter - until recently ‘Agent’ Winter, C.I.A. - had been one of the best agents the Colonial Intelligence Agency ever had… that is, until they threw her out for coming to work in a dress. After that disappointing and sudden end to what should've been a promising career, Mei rewarded herself with a relaxing vacation to celebrate her new start in life.

The first stop on her journey was to be at a pleasure resort on what turned out to be a remote third-rate backwater colony in the Outblack, called Deanna.

Deanna had plenty of weirdage - and its reputation for it already had such high-mileage, it desperately needed a tire change. For starters, it orbits a star called Ramalama – and if you think that’s funny, Deannas’ two moons are called Ding and Dong by way of a local joke.

Little did she know what she was letting herself in for.

Mei - who'd hoped to put her violent and somehow depressing past behind her, was just settling down to a nice holiday in Atro City when, seemingly as if right on cue, a warship packed with warriors of the most hostile, terrifying alien race known to humanity decided that today would be a good day to invade the small backwater Terran colony and add it to their empire.

Not that they hadn't expected resistance from the locals, but most people they'd invaded before didn't usually rush out to meet them - grabbing anything remotely resembling a weapon on the way out the door!

Now it seemed Mei's new beginning (and her holiday) were going to have to wait! The Gimp were back, and this was no time to be a sissy! As a former agent, she had the training, skills and experience to make a difference - but she faced seemingly insurmountable odds! What would she do?

Thankfully, with the assistance of Fred (a walking, talking alien plant with an attitude), Beck the Badfeller (a local bounty hunter) and the Skeggs Valley Dynamite Fishing Club, she wouldn’t have to find out alone.
