Waterspout Socks

I am always drawn to the wonderful ways water flows—in this case with force, straight up. The lace stitch used in the three pieces of the Waterspout patterns has plenty of movement and style, but is remarkably simple to work.

The socks are worked from the toe up, starting with a figure-8 cast on. The lace panel is worked over the top of the foot, with stockinette stitch on the sole. A gusset and short-row heel cup form the heel. The lace panel is repeated on the back of the leg and continues from the foot up the front.
