TCL 2025 picture settings - HDR

This product contains a document to help you get a better HDR picture and understand picture controls on TCL 2025 LED and miniLED LCD TVs. All options are available in user menus, so there is no need to access the service menu.

The analysis was originally performed on the 55Q7C and 98X11K TVs, but settings are applicable to other TCL 2025 TVs, from entry-level to high-end (certain options won't be available on entry level TVs).

The document explains:

1. HDR picture settings that can be used for watching movies in Ultra HD 4K resolution with HDR and

2. HDR picture settings for playing games where the screen needs to be responsive

The calibration was done for an HDMI limited range 4:2:2 YPrPb (component) signal, BT.2020 color space (for HDR10 signals, DCI-P3 for Dolby Vision), SMPTE ST.2084 EOTF, and white point target D65. 

For information only, 2-point white balance values obtained on my unit for HDR10/10+ and Game modes are inside this document. 20-point white balance and Colour Management System values are not listed. Note that Dolby Vision picture mode is currently not optimal and I am expecting a software update to correct this. I will update the document with the new findings after the update is available.

Settings are for reference only. There is no guarantee that they will give you the best picture, which is in line with industry standards and suitable for your viewing environment (especially white balance, gamma and color management system settings that vary from unit to unit). If you want a guaranteed calibrated picture, hire a professional TV calibrator (for example, with ISF certificate, more info at https://www.imagingscience.com).
