Field Guide 7 — Plateau
A plateau is information, not a verdict on your genetics.
It tells you that what you have been doing has stopped producing adaptation. It does not tell you that you have hit your ceiling. The guide lays out five common causes, from a recovery deficit to under-recovery from a previous block to simply needing a deload or some programme variation, and it insists you diagnose before you intervene. The first move is almost never change everything; it is back off, deload, and re-assess, because most plateaus are accumulated fatigue wearing a costume. Susan stalls two or three times a year, deloads, and carries on. Brad stalls once, switches programmes, stalls again, and never builds anything.
