At one point I fell head-over-heels in love with vine lace stitches. This shawl has the three that I found. One on each end of center, a different one in the middle, and a lovely vine border around the outside. I started with the two hanks of green yarn. I soon discovered that that would not be enough, and that there was also no way that I could find the same dye lot again, seeing as how I bought it when I was out of town. I did have a hank of the lovely black, though, so used that for the applied border. I started knitting really fast as I approached the final corner… and ran out of yarn. I did know where I got the black, so I contacted the store. Yes! She had one more hank of that dye lot. Hooray!

If you'd prefer this shawl to be all one color, then knit it that way! It looks fabulous.

The rectangular shawl starts at one end with a provisional cast on. The first motif is knit on this end, a second in the center, returning to the first motif on the other side. The border, a third vine motif, is knit on last.
