The Tower of Babel Made Simple
The whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. Then the families of Noah journeyed east, settled on the plain of Shinar, and organized the proudest building project in human history: a city and a tower whose top might reach unto heaven, built to make a name for themselves and to defy God's command to fill the earth (Genesis 11:1-9).
The Tower of Babel Made Simple is a Bible-first walk through all nine verses of Genesis 11: one language twisted into rebellion, brick made instead of stone, the grammar of pride in "let us make us a name," the fear behind "lest we be scattered," the holy irony of the Lord coming down to see, and the precise mercy of confused tongues. It traces the theology of pride from Eden to Nebuchadnezzar to the cross, and ends with the Pentecost reversal: the true Gate of God is not a tower man builds, but a Door God opened, Jesus Christ Himself.
Explicitly Trinitarian: God the Father who came down to see and to judge; Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of Man, Lord and Savior, the true Ladder and the true Door; and the Holy Spirit, who alone breaks the power of pride and sets the captive free. Every prayer is to the Father, through Jesus Christ, by the Holy Spirit.
Read one chapter a day. Come humble. Read slowly. Come down from the tower.
