BlackBerry and Blood

A song that entirely sums up Bast's lovely character. His love for fancy clothes. His love for blackberry sweet and hearty cups of crimson. His love for nature. His love for the children and people of Newarre. His love for the moon. His love for his magic, glamor, guilt, seen and seem. His scent. His love for favors and secrets. His love for his Reshi, the Waystone Inn. All sly and saucy, all cunning and curious and cinnamon, all flirty and faint.

Taking on a heavy tone at the start of the tune, this song is lively and jaunty, making you want to dance to it's beat. The first of Hugo the BloodLess, character songs, it is hard of iron, metal and rock, deep and dark. Sung passionately in a baritone male vocal, the song travels from normal and jumpy, to darker, wicked, nearly demonic by the time it's through. Perfectly stating of how Bast is part Fae\Vampire\Human\Demon.

The farther it goes, the creepier it entails.

The lyrics are on the screen of the video, so you can follow along if you'd like. I am very aware I have not put lyrics to follow in previous songs, but from now on, they will be added in future tunes.

The two cover images for the song are beautiful. The first was done wonderfully by my girlfriend, Ashley Jones. Black, gray, slight whites, hints of deep blue and blood reds, backdropped in an eerie, foggy forest. A painted female hand grasping a glass of wine peeks over Bast's wicked smile.

The second one is of Bast's whole profile, lounging and relaxing under an oak tree. In velvet black garb, long flowing hair, kind blue eyes, and a devious grin showing his fangs, he basks under the dappled sun and shade on a grassy hill in Newarre, a pile of red apples nestled by his hand, capturing his secret slyness, lending to a gothic feel. The only thing I did for this one was add the text at the top, and saturate the photo a bit to make the colors pop more!
