The last rays of the autumn sun warmes my cheek. I sit under an old oak tree watching a fallen acorn. Roots. Here they get their origin, from a small acorn. The roots penetrate deep in to the ground, laying the foundation for a strong life… I imagine I’m oak. Equally beautiful and strong… At the same time, I lugh at this idea. Should I become an oak? Well, maybe one day.

The Acorn cowl resembles a shape of a traditional triangular shawl, but it is worked in round from top down. The simple lace pattern repeats the form of acorns laying on the ground.

MATERIALS:
2 skeins of Malabrigo sock (100% Merino wool; 440 yd / 402 m per 3.53 oz / 100 g skein)
Needles: 4 US / 3.5mm circular needle, length 16 inch / 40 cm length
3 stitch markers
yarn needle

GAUGE (After blocking.):
22 sts/36 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in pattern stitch (lace).

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS (After blocking):
Upper circumference: 20.5 inches / 52cm
Lower circumpherence: 46.5 inches / 118cm
Height at back: 20 inches / 50cm.
