MODULE 2 BREAK THE CYCLE OF CATASTROPHIC THINKING
Module 2: "Break the Cycle of Catastrophic Thinking" from "7 Days to a Calm Mind."
This module focuses on helping you understand and break the pattern of catastrophic thinking so you can find clarity and peace of mind.
Key points of the module:
Understanding the Mechanism: It explains that catastrophic thinking, or your mind's tendency to jump to the worst-case scenario, is not crazy, but an evolutionary protective mechanism.
Your Brain Map: This segment guides you in identifying the situations that trigger your "emergency mode" (Part 1). It then invites you to recognize paralyzing thoughts and the emotions (such as fear or shame) that accompany them (Parts 2 and 3).
The Cycle and the Cause: The cycle of catastrophic thinking (situation → thought → catastrophe → avoidance) is analyzed. It also explores why your brain tends to think of the worst, a phenomenon known as negativity bias, to feel prepared.
The Neurological Tool: The module presents a tool to interrupt this three-second cycle, explained simply and based on neuroscience, so you can calm your mind quickly.
Action and Closure: You are given a "mini-closing ritual" to solidify the change, along with a plan for sustaining the change, helping you integrate these new habits into your life.
