Arguably the largest fibre event we have here in Australia is the Sheep and Wool Show, held each year in the city of Bendigo. I was so excited to attend for the first time in 2017, and it was as wonderful as I imagined it would be! For the trip interstate, I wanted a relatively quick project, something that was easy but engaging, and would keep me warm during the chilly nights. Ta-da, the Bendigo Shawl was born! The only skills you’ll need for the yummy fabric texture are knitting and purling, and it looks great in yarn from the Bendigo Woollen Mill, or whatever’s local to you!

You will need just over 200g of DK weight yarn for this shawl, which means that you will have a bit of leftovers if you choose to use a yarn that comes in 100 or 200g skeins. A fantastic way to use up your scraps is the matching Bendigo Hat pattern! Find the Bendigo Hat pattern here. Happy knitting!
