Aberystwyth Pattern Bundle

Keeping cosy has never been more stylish! Introducing my Aberystwyth Beanie and scarf bundle with their ocean wave and eyelet motifs which are evocative of the coastline of this Welsh coastal town where my sister attended university.

The scarf is a beautifully relaxing knit with simple combinations of knit and purl stitch for the ocean wave motif and stocking and eyelet stitch to represent the rock pools that that can be found around the beaches. The beanie, which is knitted in the round, only takes the ocean wave motif, but the crown has a pool like feel to it. Both are satisfying projects for knitters of all abilities and relatively quick to knit too due to using aran yarn and 6mm needles.

Individually, each of these patterns looks great, but together they are the perfect match. Excellent gift knits for yourself or for someone else, they are incredibly cosy and ideal for those long walks or quick trips around town from autumn through to spring.

But whether you knit these accessories for yourself or for someone else, you will have fun knitting them, they will look amazing and they are a fabulous way to keep warm on a chilly day.

Measurements:

• Scarf: L: 220cm, W: 34cm
• Beanie: One size to fit 54-56m/21-22 inch circumference

Overall length from band to top after blocking approx. 20cm/8 inches

Yarn Requirements:

• Scarf: 500m/547yds aran weight yarn
• Beanie: 90m/99yds aran weight yarn

Needles:

• Scarf: 6mm needles
• Beanie: 5mm (UK6/US8) and 6mm (UK4/US10) circular needles with 60cm cable or DPNs

Sample yarn: The samples are knitted in Stylecraft Special Aran (100g/196m) 100% Acrylic.The shade is Storm Blue. You will need 3 balls of this yarn to complete both projects. However, feel free to use any aran yarn that you wish, but please always check your gauge carefully and adjust accordingly when using a different yarn.
