Motivation and Appreciation in Romantic Relationships
Motivation is important. So is appreciation. We seem to feel underappreciated.
We are all motivated, just maybe not for the things people would like us to be motivated. “He’s lazy,” they said about the teen, who just stayed up til 2 am playing video games. He was motivated, maybe not for what you wanted, but those games were a motivating force. Sports, music, theatre etc.
In a relationship, especially a romantic one, with all the work it entails, means doing the work even when the motivation is not there. Even when we feel like giving up. Keep committing to the same person and growing a bigger better relationship.
We have the option of starting from scratch, reinventing the wheel or maybe seeing what the experts have found out in their experience. Find a buddy or partner to hold one another mutually accountable. Set a goal and use these nuggets.
What do the experts say?
