This cute slouchy bag comes in two handy sizes. A perfect day bag or maybe you need a more compact for the evening! There's two useful pockets and it has a zipped main closure to keep your belongings safe.
PLEASE NOTE:
My patterns are written in English only and the measurements are in Inches.
Due to the nature of the product, refunds cannot be offered on digital file products.
PLEASE READ THROUGH ALL THE INFORMATION CAREFULLY BEFORE DECIDING TO PURCHASE.
Skill level: Confident beginner +
My patterns are very in depth and comprehensive. None of the processes are particularly difficult and all are explained in detail. If you've never inserted a zip before, my pattern includes a lot of photo's and tips to make this a much easier process. If you are a confident beginner, have experience of following patterns and are happy on a sewing machine, I think you could give this one a go!
Finished size (approximately):
Large: 12'' W (top) 14'' W (widest) x 12'' H x 4 ½'' D
Small: 9'' W (top) x 11'' W (widest) x 8 ¼'' H x 3'' D
You will receive, 12 pages of step by step instructions with helpful tips, diagrams and over 50 photos to illustrate the steps and techniques used. This pattern uses templates which you will need to print out yourself. I'm afraid I do not provide a printing service! The pocket linings and strap loops are all measure-and-cut so NO templates are provided for these. Instructions are included for the plain canvas bag and the quilted version too in both sizes. I have not covered creating the patchwork itself but you can find lots of free tutorials and inspiration on my Instagram page.
You will need:
- Printed canvas or quilting cotton for the exterior. (½ yard/metre)
You will need a variety of scraps of cotton fabric if you're making a patchwork bag.
- Quilting cotton for your lining fabrics including the pockets. (½ - ¾ yard/metre)
- Plain cotton for your backing fabric for the quilt sandwiches if you're making a quilted bag. (½ yard/metre)
- Essex linen (optional) as a contrast for the lining top. (¼ yard/metre)
- Cotton wadding/batting to pad your exterior fabrics if you are making a quilted bag. Fusible fleece could also be used if you prefer.
- Interfacing
You will need a medium-weight fusible interfacing for the main lining pieces and pocket linings. If you are making a canvas tote, I would use a woven fusible interfacing to back your canvas.
- 1'' Cotton webbing
A length of 60'' should suit most adults.
- Zips
14'' (large) or 12'' (small) closed ended zip for the main closure.
(2) 8'' (large) or (2) 6'' (small) closed ended zips for the pockets.
- Hardware
(2) 1'' D rings, (2) 1'' Swivel clasps, 1'' adjustable slider
Equipment and tools:
Rotary cutter, cutting mat, quilting ruler, scissors, thread, iron, Wonder clips/binding clips, pins, disappearing fabric pen (I use a Frixion pen), seam ripper (just in case), basting spray, zipper foot, a denim machine needle or a thicker needle, walking foot (optional), temporary fabric glue pen (optional).
