***** This is a PDF pattern, not a finished product*****

This useful little cross-body bag has a pocket on the front and an adjustable strap. It's perfect for when you're dashing about and need somewhere to keep the essentials. It would make a handy holiday bag. Great for big and little kids!

Skill level: Intermediate+

Although this isn't a particularly difficult pattern, I've given it an Intermediate rating because it does involve curves and you should be happy applying binding around curves too. However all the processes are explained in detail. So if you're confident with these, as well as inserting zips you should be fine.

Finished size (approximately):

6'' W x 8 ½'' H x 2 ½'' D

You will receive, 12 pages of step by step instructions with helpful tips and over 60 photos to illustrate the steps and techniques used. I've also included instructions for the patchwork version and how to make your very own handmade strap! This is a measure and cut pattern so the corner shaping template is the only one you'll need.

You will need:

  • Quilting cotton: for all your main and lining pieces. You can use all different fabric for the main front and back pieces and for your main gusset pieces too if you like.
  • Cotton wadding: to pad the front and back panels.
  • Fusible fleece: for backing the gusset section. Vlieseline H640 or H630 are both fine but cotton wadding can also be used.
  • Medium-weight fusible interfacing: this is applied to the back of the lining pieces. Pellon Shape-Flex SF101 or Vlieseline G700 both work well but It's fine just to use your favourite.
  • Closed ended zips: (2) 12'' (nylon zips trimmed down later)
  • Cotton Webbing: 1 ¼'' x 64''
  • Hardware: 1 ¼'' adjustable slider and (2) 1 ¼'' rectangular rings (not square)

Equipment and tools:

Rotary cutter, cutting mat, quilting ruler, scissors, thread, iron, Wonder clips/binding clips, pins, trick marker/disappearing fabric pen, seam ripper (just in case), basting spray, zipper foot, a hand-sewing needle for stitching the binding on, denim machine needle or a thicker needle, walking foot (optional), temporary fabric glue pen (optional).
