GREP Style Identifier is an Adobe InDesign script that reveals exactly which text in your document is being formatted by GREP styles. GREP styles live inside paragraph styles and apply character formatting automatically wherever a pattern matches — which makes their effect powerful but invisible. This script finds every one of those matches and highlights it with a conditional-text condition, so you can see the affected ranges at a glance.

When you run it, the script scans all paragraph styles for nested GREP styles, re-runs each GREP expression within its style, and applies a condition named Grep Styles Identified to every match. A progress dialog reports its status, and a summary reports how many styles, expressions, and text ranges were processed. Holding Shift at launch switches to a delete mode that removes the condition again..
