Needles & Notions
6 mm (US 10) 24” (60 cm) or longer circular needle, or size to obtain gauge; 4.5, 5, & 5.5 mm (US 7, 8, & 9) straight or circular needles (1, 2, and 3 sizes smaller than gauge needle); 4.5 mm (US 7) 32” (80 cm) circular needle; 10 (10, 11, 11, 11) (11, 11, 11, 11) 1” (2.5 cm) buttons; yarn needle; 2 locking stitch markers; 10 (10, 11, 11, 11) (11, 11, 11, 11) stitch markers
Substitution Notes
Look for a Bulky weight yarn meant to knit up at 3-3.75 sts = 1” (2.5 cm) on 6-8mm (US 10-11) needles. A lofty wool or wool blend makes a great choice so the weight of the yarn doesn’t stretch out the gauge too much. Two strands of a sport weight yarn held together would probably work, but you would need to swatch to be sure.
