The triathlon cowl is a celebration of endurance sport. The instructions provided make a “sprint” cowl that loops once around the neck. A longer distance cowl can be achieved by adding extra pattern repeats. This will require extra yarn. The cowl could also be adapted for a duathlete by repeating the tyre track motif either side of the footprints, in place of the water design.
🏊♀️🏃🚴
The colourwork is a combination of intarsia and stranded colourwork, with the MC being carried across the back of the work, and separate bobbins being used for left and right footprints, the water, and the tyre tracks. The cowl is worked back and forth, end to end. The ends are then grafted together.
Part of the commonwealth cowls series -- inspired by the Commonwealth Games coming to my then home city of Glasgow in 2014! 💚
