Lesson_69_Butler_and_Baker
Joseph has been locked in an Egyptian dungeon for years. One day, Pharaoh gets angry with two of his top
officials-his Chief Cupbearer (Butler) and his Chief Baker-and throws them into the exact same prison. Both
men have vivid, terrifying dreams on the same night. Joseph accurately interprets both: The Cupbearer's dream
of squeezing grapes means he will be restored to his job in 3 days. The Baker's dream of birds eating bread
from his head means he will be executed in 3 days. Everything happens exactly as Joseph said. Joseph begs
the Cupbearer, 'Remember me when it goes well with you.' But as soon as the Cupbearer is free, he completely
forgets Joseph for two full, agonizing years. Today, we will explore the science of royal food preparation, the
ecology of scavenger birds, and the psychological torment of being forgotten.
