Lesson_78_Israel_Multiplies
Welcome to the Book of Exodus! Four hundred years have passed since Genesis ended. The original 70
members of Jacob's family have exploded into a massive population of over two million people! But there is a
terrifying shift in the geopolitical landscape: 'Then a new king, to whom Joseph meant nothing, came to power
in Egypt' (Exodus 1:8). Feeling threatened by the sheer size of the Israelite population, Pharaoh weaponizes
the government against them. He strips them of their rights and forces them into brutal, ruthless slave labor to
build his supply cities. Today, we will explore the physical agony of hard labor, the psychology of systemic
oppression, and the incredible resilience of the Hebrew people.
