UPDATE: A paperback version is now available from Amazon, as reported here: https://www.bakkah.net/en/new-publication-conditions-required-by-ones-testimony-of-laa-ilaaha-ill-allah-workbook.htm

This highly beneficial primer in Islamic creed authored by Shaykh al-Islam Muhammad ibn ‘Abdil-Wahhaab (may Allah have Mercy on him), Shuroot Laa-ilaaha-ill-Allah, can be summarized as follows:

  1. The first condition is knowledge of its meaning, regarding what it negates and affirms.
  2. The second condition is certainty, which is the completeness of one's knowledge regarding it [the testimony] that negates doubts and skepticism.
  3. The third condition is sincerity, which negates associating partners.
  4. The fourth condition is honesty, which negates lying and prevents hypocrisy.
  5. The fifth condition is love of the phrase and what it means, as well as being pleased with it.
  6. The sixth condition is compliance to its requirements, which are the obligations, out of sincerity, seeking His Pleasure.
  7. The seventh condition is acceptance, in opposition to rejection.

ABOUT THIS WORKBOOK

In this valuable set of resources, you have the entire Arabic text of the book, paired with a clear English translation, laid out with ample space for notetaking during classes. After the text there are other helpful resources, including the uninterrupted text, in its original Arabic (both voweled and unvoweled), as well as its uninterrupted English translation. A chain of transmission is also included, as well as quizzes to check one’s basic understanding of the text. An answer key is provided on the bottom of page 3. The seven conditions are also presented in poetry form, from the book, Sullam al-Wusool, by Shaykh Haafith al-Hakamee (may Allah have Mercy on him).

AUDIO RESOURCES

Additionally, one can find some audio resources on the Spreaker channel of the First Muslim Mosque in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The title of that podcast is “Conditions Required by One's Testimony of Laa-ilaaha-ill-Allah,” as found at: http://www.spreaker.com/user/radio1mm.
