Description:
A pattern for a cowl that is made with a modular knitting technique. The cowl is made with twenty seven triangle elements that connect with each other to form scales. You will work with only one triangle element at a time.
Each triangle element is knitted with a garter stitch. Not even one purl stitch is required for this project.
The pattern is written for one size, adult medium but it gives directions on how you can change the size by changing yarn thickness and needle size.

Skills:
Knit, Pick up and knit stitches on the side of the work

Materials:
Yarn: 220 yds (200 m) of fingering weight yarn, sample made with Madelinetosh Twist Light 75% Merino, 25% Nylon, 420 yds (384 m)/4 oz (114 g), color Piñata Pop
Needles: Size US 4 (3.5 mm) needles at least 8” (20 cm) long, circular or double point needles, just personal preference
Notions: Locking markers, tapestry needle

Gauge: 24 sts and 48 rows = 4” (10 cm) in garter stitch

Size: Adult Medium
finished measurements: circumference on the top 22.5” (57 cm), length from top to bottom in front 11” (28 cm), and from top to bottom on the back 5.5” (14 cm)
