Getting Started with High School

I will share how I homeschool high school.

Are you wondering if you can homeschool high school?

During my son’s middle school years, I wondered how I would homeschool high school? It was daunting! We considered other options, but then we decided homeschooling was the best option for him. It took me some time to wrap my head around it, but it's not as hard as you think! I will explain how I award credit hours and fill out a transcript. I'll also share a template of the transcript I'm using.

I'll touch on how we manage his time. It's a challenge to balance his academic lessons with his music education. I will also tell you about the online classes he's taking as well as the classes his father and I have created for him. I have never used a boxed curriculum, and high school is no different. ;)

He is in his first year of high school now (9th grade). If there's interest, I’ll create a high school support group, and we can experience these years together!

I require at least 2 people to make this class. Otherwise, you may sign up for a one-on-one chat.

Yes, I'm interested!

If you are interested in a class about homeschooling high school, please fill out this form. If there's enough interest, you'll be notified with further instructions on how to complete the transaction. Filling out the form does not obligate you to take the class.

Dates and times will be coordinated after I have enough interest to make this class.

About Me and my Family

I’m a homeschool mom living in Georgia, U.S.A., and I write the blog mamaofletters.com. I’m also the former senior editor of home/school/life magazine. My two boys are 15 and 12-years-old, and they have never attended a traditional school, kindergarten or preschool. Though we are not unschoolers, we are very child-centered and child-led. I have used project-based homeschooling techniques and a variety of resources to teach my boys a fairly typical course of study, but we have not followed the same strategies or “milestones” that a traditional public school would require.

As a family, we love nature and science, and we watch documentaries almost everyday. We also love music. My eldest son is a serious classical musician who plays the piano, and he’s preparing to compete on an international level someday. My younger son plays the cello, and he has been interested in birds since he was four-years-old. He’s turned us all into birders. You can learn more about our homeschool here.

I get a lot of joy out of sharing the work I've done and reassuring parents who are exploring different educational paths for their kids. I'm taking that to another level by offering live Zoom sessions so we can talk face-to-face.
