Story:
What would you give to be seen—and what would you give never to be?
Kamada Eizo makes his public self a masterpiece—bright, easy, exactly what everyone wants—so no one looks twice at what he keeps out of the light. He just has to finish the fantasy serial that will make his name. He just needs to keep hiding in plain sight.
Then his editor gets close enough to touch.
Miyamoto Ran has spent eight years chasing a vanished book that froze his world since the day he read it. Futilely, he thought, until he meets Eizo, and his obsession reignites. He waits, closing the distance until Eizo has nowhere left to perform—coaxing that voice back into the open, if only to reclaim what he lost.
Some days it's almost fun: Ran seeks him from the shadows on the page, hunting the tells in every deflection cut short; Eizo skirts between lines, masking truths and selling lies. But when the light finds them both, the game ends—and there's no telling who survives it whole.
This is Book 2 of the Resistance trilogy and is perfect for readers of danmei, queer slow-burn romance, and mystery.
