Idlewild is the name Anne of Green Gables gives to the playhouse she shares with Diana, set amongst a ring of white birch trees in what Anne describes as "the most romantic spot". Romantic is right; in deep red with tiny spots of pink and with ever-deepening rings of petal lace, Idlewild nods to the beauty of nature.

Lovely pattern!

I consider myself a beginner at knitting, but I found this straightforward to read! The pictures and explanations were helpful, and I had no problems with the pattern itself. And the finished product is so pretty!

Beautiful Pattern with Clear Instructions

Really enjoyed making this cowl. Not only is the design something that I’d wear, the sizing works for my plus size body, unlike most cowls. There’s obviously a lot of thought gone into the design of this.

The pattern is also very clearly written with no ambiguity in the instructions. Also included is a version compatible with screen readers.

I love it!

It's a beautiful design, and the pattern is fantastic. Full of details, explanations of why the recommended techniques were chosen, charts AND written directions, links to videos, multiple ways to contact the designer...I'm an experienced knitter, but even as a beginner I would have felt confident tackling this design. Highly recommended!

A very clear pattern for an unusual cowl with lovely, simple lace.

This pattern explained very clearly required techniques that some other patterns assume one will look up - the garter stitch tab, and the Russian bind-off.
