This is a pattern to knit a beanie worked using the stranded colourwork technique. It is worked from the bottom rib up with decreases shaping the crown.


Included are instructions for the Ladderback/Invisible Jacquard technique if you would like a less visible tacking of floats over longer single colour areas.

Yearling by Bloom Woolen Yarns; Worsted; 85%; Shetland, 15% Huacaya Alpaca; 120 yards (110 meters); 60g

approximate yarn amounts:

colour A (Carnelian) - 35g; 70yds / 64m

colour B (Natural Grey) - 30g; 60yds / 55m

needles:

3.5mm (us no 4) circular, 16in/41cm

4.0mm (us no 6) circular, 16in/41cm and DPNs 6in/15cm

gauge: 20 stitches x 24 rows = 4in/10cm

measured over stranded stockinette on larger needles

Some knitters work stranded knitting at a different gauge than single-colour knitting, change needles as needed to keep stitch gauge.
