Back from the dead and armed to the teeth, Lula is about to unleash some fae-fueled fury in a frontier free-for-all!

Book 4 in the Otherworld Outlaws series, an action-packed romp through the Wild West, loaded with living myths, dark magic, and bloodthirsty monsters aplenty.

After narrowly escaping the unbearable lich Brother Havóq and flirting with death herself, Lula finally gets her mitts on the Sleg of Assal. At long last, the key to busting her dad out of supernatural jail! But who would've guessed it would be a dirt-loathing, murder-happy weapon with an attitude sharper than its pointy end? As if that wasn’t bad enough, three shady hobgoblins are now hot on her tail, itching to grab the infamous weapon for their unsavory troll of a boss, Motherlode Mankiller.

Meanwhile, Hattie's in a pickle of her own. A smooth-talking conman and horse thief named Knox has his greedy peepers on her ranch, and there's a little problem with the deed—namely, there isn’t one. Desperate for some otherworldly help, Hattie discovers the answer to her problem is in Tír Na nÓg. And now that she has the spear, Lula won’t let anything, not even common sense, get in her way from springing her dad from his mystical cell. Ignoring everyone’s warnings, these two stubborn gals gallop headfirst into the Otherworld.

But getting there is a cakewalk compared to the horror show that's waiting for them. To face a creature too ghastly to imagine (or even get anyone to spill the beans about), Lula and Hattie have to dig deep for their courage and moxie. Can Lula find her father before the Morrígan—or something way worse—catches up with them? And can Hattie snatch the magic she needs to save her ranch from Knox's sticky fingers? In this potion-slinging weird west Celtic fantasy, the stakes have never been higher, and the chuckles never louder. So grab your hats, grimoires, and six-shooters, and buckle up for one hilariously hair-raising journey through the Otherworld!

One Fine Weird Western

Fae Planes Drifter is the fourth in the Otherworld Outlaws series. I really liked the first three volumes so it's good to have the current one in hand. The opening line picks up immediately from the end of book three, unlike the others which begin a little after the prior endings (enough time for the dust to settle). The opening of the novel is striking, Boston-doctor-cum-fae-outlaw, Lula Cullen's first thoughts with blood-thirty, talking spear in hand is like a warrior queen coming into her own.

All the elements of the previous books are built upon in this adventure: the close-bonded characters; the budding, not quite soldering romance; the twists of the evolving plot; the sometimes slapstick humor; the revelation of hinted secrets. In this segment is a real western, rather than fantasy trope, the land grab, and it is essential to the direction of the tale.

Fae Planes Drifter takes its characters into the otherworld for a brief foray to rescue Lula's father. The descriptions of Tír na nÓg give Tammy Salyer a chance to stretch her fantasy weavings, with depictions of lush flora and fauna, repellant creatures such as the Muculents and the nuckelavee, the phantasmagoria of the City of Spells, the underwater journey to Magh Mell and the faceoff with a Tuatha Dé Danann queen. For a moment I was afraid the book was going to end as a cliffhanger, but there is resolution which leads directly into the next volume.

The Otherworld Outlaws is a nicely paced series with engaging characters, an intriguing backdrop of the weird west and Celtic mythology, a story of gods, fantastic creatures and flawed humans, moments of sheer terror in a world both fantastic and believable, yet with humor, and a bit of romance. I can hardly wait for the next installment.

Going strong and getting better!

Now that Doc knows Lou is her father and she’s in possession of his sword who she named Sleg, she sets out to free him. Hattie Dubois get hit on by a witch and is still having lan trouble with Knox they meet a woman named Gitaneese Who it turns out knows many iterations of uncle. During the trip doc learns Sleg is not only finicky but loves to murder and just to make things even more fun doc and the crew are being stalked by three monsters but those monsters will not be the only ones they come up against unfortunately her reunion with her dad doesn’t go exactly the way she thinks it will and find out meeting him will not mark the end of the journey. I love the strange westerns and and have read all four and always look so forward to the next one. I was surprised to learn so many people like these wacky paranormal westerns into those of them who follow me you should definitely read this series if you don’t already. This could also definitely be considered fantasy because there is other worlds besides the monsters and shape shifters and there’s also magic it’s just an awesome awesome read. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review I want to thank the author for allowing me to be an early reader and for my free arc copy.
