The Witness

Chicago, 1931. In a city of sinners, one witness could be its salvation.

When gunmen from the notorious O’Driscol Gang storm The Sapphire Club, a swanky underground speakeasy, their mission is simple: silence a snitch. The result is a slaughterhouse. Seven innocent people are cut down in a hail of tommy gun fire, collateral damage in a gangland war. The sole survivor is Judith Brown, a dancer who saw it all from her hiding place under a splintered table.

Her testimony can put the O'Driscols brothers away for life. But in Chicago, witnesses have a short life expectancy.

Fletcher "Fletch" McGregor is tasked with keeping Judith alive until the trial. Eleanor "Nora" Sharpe must navigate a minefield of police corruption and political pressure to tell a story that could ignite a city. Detective Patrick "Paddy" O'Malley has to build a case against the most protected gang in the city, knowing his own department might be compromised.

Their only hope is to outmaneuver the O’Driscols at their own game, and for that, they need inside information. They need "Silky" Sam O'Hara, the fixer who knows where all the bodies are buried. But Silky plays all sides, and his loyalty is for sale to the highest bidder. As the O’Driscols hunt their witness with relentless brutality, Fletcher, Nora, and O’Malley must use every weapon they have, truth, lies, and the city’s darkest secrets, to protect one terrified girl. Because if Judith Brown dies, justice dies with her.
