In the Mood

My parents were young when big band music was new and hot. Naturally, they continued to listen to it fairly often once I came along. Whenever In the Mood came on Mom’s feet would start to tap. Dad would take her in his arms, and they’d dance around our living room. You’ll feel like dancing, too, when you get into the swing of mosaic knitting. When combined with lace, the music truly begins to play.

In the Mood begins with a modified tab cast on, and switches between sections of lace, stripes, and mosaic knitting to create a knit song that you’ll be in the mood to wear over and over again.

• Yarn: fingering weight; 400 yards MC, and 133 yards each of 6 graduated colors; 1200 yards total.
• Model: All yarn is Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply; 100% superwash Merino wool; Grand total of 1198 yards.
• MC: Marine; 400 yards in 115 grams. Carina gradient set of 6 graduated grays; 133 yards in 38 grams each..
• Gauge: 19 sts and 25 rows to 4 inches (10 cm) in lace stitch, blocked; and 17 sts and 40 rows in mosaic stitch, blocked.
• Needles: US 6 (4 mm) for gauge, and US 8 (5 mm) for bands.
• Finished size: 81 x 39 inches.
