Air War 1940 to 1944: WWII Air Battles Arcade Game
Bring World War II air battles to life with Air War 1940 to 1944, a fast paced classroom arcade game where students fly through five major WWII air battles while learning the history behind each mission.
Students take on the role of different Allied pilots as they battle enemy planes, protect targets, intercept bombs and flak, escort bomber formations, attack carriers, and answer historical questions to reload during boss fights. Each level is built around a real WWII air battle, including the Battle of Britain, Pearl Harbor, Midway, Schweinfurt, and the Battle of the Philippine Sea.
This game is more than a review activity. Students must read battle intel pop ups, pay attention to the historical context, and use what they learn to answer boss battle questions. The gameplay includes level specific mechanics like dive bombing aircraft carriers at Midway, protecting bomber formations over Schweinfurt, and launching rockets against enemy ships in the Philippine Sea.
Great for:
World War II units, station rotations, early finisher activities, review days, sub plans, enrichment, or a high engagement hook before teaching air warfare in WWII.
