Christmas Cactus by Emma Denson

Synopsis: Every year Moss swears this will be the last time he opens his historic home for the Alabama Christmastime tours. He is on the edge of making good on that promise when he finds a young teenager, Jada, who has wandered off her own during the tour. What unfolds is an exploration of grief, memories, and finding friendship in unlikely places.

Emma Denson is a London-based playwright and director, originally from Alabama. She was named a 2024 Eugene O’Neill Center New Play Conference semi-finalist for her play Sex and the Southeast, and her play Otis and Anna received Best Short at Downtown Urban Arts Festival 2023 in NYC. She was also the inaugural recipient of the Drama League Rose Fellowship in 2024, where she served as assistant director of the stage adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go at the Rose Theatre in London, and directed the Rose Young Company in her own play, Happy Sleep. Emma also recently directed her bilingual adaption of The Taming of the Shrew called Taming of Kate at Teatro Blu in Milan.
