Science vs Romance Shawl - Knitting Pattern

Science vs Romance is a generously sized triangle shawl knit on the bias. It combines all of my favorite things: lace, stripes, stripes and more stripes! Using yarn dyed by some of my favorite people, it is sure to become one of your favorite knits. Grab your favorite speckled yarn, pair it with a great tonal, and turn them into a fabulous shawl.

It is knit in yarn from two of my dyer friends, NanoStitch Labs (science), and Loved Ones Yarn (romance). I was lying in bed one night, with a design idea in my head and trying to decide the perfect yarns for it. Then bam, it all came together.

NanoStitch Laboratory, Scientific Sock (75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon, 463y/100g); in the
colorway Particle, (speckeld yarn).
Loved Ones Yarn, 80/20 Fingering Weight Yarn (80% Superwash Merino, 20% Nylon,
400y/100g); in the colorway Night Fever (purple tonal).
Or any other fingering weight yarn with which you can achieve gauge.
Color 1 used approximately 390y/84g.
Color 2 used approximately 300y/75g.
Please note these are estimates only, and adjustments to the pattern and gauge may alter
these numbers.

24 stitches by 36 rows is equal to 4” (10cm) in stockinette stitch after blocking.
Shawl measures 92” (233cm) long by 20” (51cm) deep after blocking.
