Captain, Only He Could Be
Here is the official produced song about Captain Finn Fitzroy, sailing along the southern seas in the Americas. It is a summary of his life from 1805 up until his death in 1865, covering from childhood, his captains career, his fateful meeting with Charles Darwin, discovering fossils and gems for science, exploring the South American coast, finding the Fuegians, his marriage, his profession in meteorology, and so forth.
It is highly based on my novel, The Captain and the Naturalist, which you can find on my website.
The song is a summation of his life entirely, going over key parts in the book. It doesn't include every little thing and detail, as the thing was already getting over 30 plus minutes, but it covers most. If you want to read it, and understand the finer points, check it out.
It is absolutely beautiful and the song takes on various different tones and medley's. Piano, violin, cello, humming, to epic drum beating chorus, to a slow, sad taut tight true sorrowful state. If I tried to have everything put into it, it would be well over an hour, so I am proud of how it turned out. It is vocally, in a female voice, made fully in a site called Suno.
The music itself and the voice is programmed, but it sounds nearly real, its almost shocking, but serene, bashful, gorgeous. The lyrics, the editing of the song, the visuals, were written and composed by me. It was indeed, a lot of work to make the beats flow well, as its multiple lyrical songs infused into one long one to tell a story. There are some points, not many, but some where the pitch and tone does change and it is noticeable, but I did the best I could. If you want to check out Suno, give it a shot. It's unique, one of the best song writing programs I've ever come across.
