Advice from a Knight in 1366
In the cool of a vast evening on a lonely winter night, a middle-aged medieval knight sits down by the candle table to write, scribble, and record his most inner thoughts, life lessons, and giving beautiful advice to future men, women, young Knights, Kings, Queens, Squires and Pages, to hope to pave the way for them, a sweet whistling rhythm to the foundries of the soul. Serene quotes on basic things, such as anger, happiness, greed, love, peace, silence, fear, and more, implanting his own influence, opinions, and judgement on such manners. I never could figure a way to write something like this in a general story form without it coming off as odd, strange, too complex, or confusing to read. Think about it though. In most of my stories and books, the characters acquire advice or life lessons whether it’s the internal monologues of the main character, from companions, epic moments, or in the journey of life. So why not write an advice booklet? Embark through an old knights thoughts and passions and recalling the younger days, of times of war, of times of heart ache and love, and of times of change, in the 14th century. Yet in this, it is a knights most lovely and darkest deepest thoughts on emotions and subjects of the world. It is very vague. You do not know his childhood, his background, or family. You do not know what he looks like, his age, where he was born, or when he might succumb and die. All you know is the year he is writing this, his battles, the King he served under, that he had a wife, and his name. I surely pray to thee that these kindest and most vulnerable words from a man who has had plenty of time in his middle years, brings you solace, comfort, and calm, to rest a quiet moment alone beside a candle or a tree, for indeed, what it means to be a true knight.
