Kyū-Furukawa Garden: A Blend of East and West
The Kyū-Furukawa estate, located in Tokyo’s Kita-Ku, was built in 1917 by British architect Josiah Conder. Its Japanese garden, designed by Ogawa Jihei, complements the Western-style villa and rose garden.
The lower garden features a Shinji-ike pond, a dry waterfall, a tea house, and a 10-meter waterfall. Visitors can enjoy tea and sweets for 500 yen. The roses bloom in spring and autumn, while maples and azaleas add seasonal beauty.
