What will land in your account each pay this year, next year and the year after? Enter your salary and how often you're paid. The workbook shows your take-home pay per week, fortnight or month for 2025-26, 2026-27 and 2027-28, side by side, with the tax cuts that are already law built in. It also explains in plain English what changes each year and why.

What it works out for you, for each of the three years:

  • Take-home pay per pay period and per year
  • Income tax (after the low income tax offset and, from 2027-28, the new Working Australians tax offset), Medicare levy and Medicare levy surcharge
  • Your compulsory HELP repayment under the marginal repayment system, with the indexed thresholds
  • Employer super guarantee (12%), salary sacrifice, super after contributions tax, and how much room is left under your concessional cap
  • Your effective tax rate
  • A plain-English summary: for example "the 16% tax rate falls to 15% (law since March 2025); on your income that saves $268 a year"

Built in, as legislated: the 16% rate falls to 15% from 1 July 2026 and to 14% from 1 July 2027. The $1,000 instant deduction for work-related expenses starts in 2026-27. The Working Australians tax offset (up to $250) starts in 2027-28. Indexed thresholds the ATO hasn't published yet (such as the 2027-28 HELP and surcharge thresholds) are shaded and labelled, and you can update them in one place. Nothing that is only announced is included.

Your inputs: salary, pay frequency, salary sacrifice to super, other income, private hospital cover (yes/no), HELP debt (yes/no), work-related expenses, and an optional yearly pay rise.

In the included example ($85,000 salary, paid fortnightly, $2,000 salary sacrifice, HELP debt, no hospital cover), take-home pay goes from $2,417.62 a fortnight in 2025-26 to $2,455.16 in 2026-27 and $2,475.08 in 2027-28: $1,494 more a year with the same salary.

What you get: one Excel workbook (Home, Dashboard, Your Details, Summary, Calculator, Rates by Year, Checks, Notes & Sources), with example data included. Works in Microsoft Excel and LibreOffice.

Every rate and threshold was checked against ato.gov.au and legislation.gov.au on 24 October 2026, and every source is listed inside the file.

Built and checked by a CPA. Every formula tested against a separate calculation.
