UK Edition: Classroom Expectations Matrix and Teaching Plans, SEND, KS4 and Post-16
An expectations matrix and teaching plans for SEND classes. Pupils do better when expectations are taught like a lesson, not just put up on the wall.
What's included
• Example matrix showing three expectations in each part of the lesson: starting class, working alone, group work, getting help and leaving
• Blank matrix to fill in with your own expectations and routines
• Five steps to teach any routine: tell why, show it, practise it, notice it, reteach it
• Review page for when routines slip
How I use it
I fill in the blank matrix with the class in the first week, then teach one routine a day using the five steps. I model it the wrong way and let them catch me, because they remember that. When a routine slips, I reteach it without a lecture.
Good for KS1 to KS4 classes, including SEND and SEMH groups.
Format: PDF, 4 A4 pages.
