The Four Airway Checks Before Any Tape (Free)
Four quick checks to run before you ever try mouth tape.
Mouth taping is everywhere online, and for some people it is not safe. This one-page safety screen helps you decide, before you try it, whether it is wrong for you tonight.
Inside:
- A do-not-tape list: sleep apnea (diagnosed or suspected), any nasal blockage, reflux or nausea, asthma or a lung condition, a heart condition unless your doctor says yes, anxiety about a covered mouth, anyone under 18, and never after alcohol or sedatives
- Four checks: a two-minute nose test, a one-side test, a ten-minute calm test, and a red-flag review
- Why to screen first: a 2025 review in PLOS One (10 studies, 213 patients) found only 2 of 6 studies measuring sleep apnea showed a significant improvement, both in mild cases, and 4 of 10 raised an asphyxiation risk
Mouth taping is a trial for healthy adults, not a treatment for snoring or sleep apnea. General information, not medical advice. Ask your doctor first. Research checked Oct 2026.
