+++These are measure and cut patterns which means that there are NO TEMPLATES to print off and match up- Yay! You need a rotary cutter, ruler and mat and you can cut the pattern pieces straight from the fabric. This is easier than it sounds because the pieces are all simple squares and rectangles.
All measurements are in INCHES.

A bundle is a great way to buy favourite patterns at a discounted price. The Backpack Bundle I contains three of my most popular and best selling patterns in the one discounted deal. These favourite styles never go out of fashion and they make perfect gifts. You also have my permission with the purchase to make these to sell in handmade quantities. Now is the time!

A bit about the Barcelona Backpack.....

You need a great backpack. It is actually vital! It has to have plenty of pocket options and it doesn’t need to be too big – you are not walking the Appalachian Trail (well I am guessing here but I feel pretty safe in the assumption). More likely you are grabbing something as you race out the door and you need to trust that it will get you through the day. Or you are doing a walk around your city and you want to tote your lunch plus a few essentials. This is the backpack that you need. It is not too large but it has everything and it is easy to use. Let’s totally DO this!

Pattern Rating: intermediate with some knowledge assumed.

Finished Size: 11” wide x 15” tall x 3 1⁄2” deep

Suggested Fabrics: quilting weight cotton, denim, canvas, furnishing fabrics, linen, needle cord, waxed cotton, oilcloth

Gather these supplies:
Fabric:
1⁄2 yd. canvas
1 1⁄4 yd. lining fabric to coordinate
TIP: the extra amount of lining includes the allowance for the bias tape. You can also buy this and save fabric in which case you only need 3⁄4 yd. of lining.

Interfacing:
1 yd. Style-Vil foam interfacing (Vlieseline) or By Annie's Soft & Stable
Fat Eighth S320 fusible interfacing (Vlieseline) or pellon Craft Fuse

Everything Else:
Zippers-
- 1x 7” and 1x 12” #5 zips for the main top gusset zipper
- 2x 6” #5 zips for the front double zipper pocket
- 1x 5” #5 zip for the front outer zipper box pocket
- 1x 7” #3 zip for the internal zipper box pocket

Webbing for the straps:
- 82” cotton webbing 1” wide for the main adjustable straps
- 12” cotton webbing 1 1⁄2” wide for the top handle
- 12” cotton webbing 1” wide for the tabs on the rectangle rings and the gusset
zipper ends Hardware:
- 2x 1” D rings
- 2x 1” bag sliders
A scrap of leather or vegan leather 1 1⁄2” wide x 10” long to trim the handle
Something to decorate the zipper pulls (optional). My absolute favourite is either leather or vegan leather.
Clear drying glue suitable for fabric Coordinating threads for all fabrics and trims
Your usual sewing needs including scissors, markers, and extra feet for your sewing machine (zipper foot for example). You know, the usual stuff!

A bit about the Pennine Way Convertible Backpack.....

A backpack which converts to a tote is always a great idea and it offers a practical solution for every day. I wanted to make the adjustable backpack strap as unfussy as possible and I have found a way! All that is needed is a length of webbing and some clever hardware placement. The Pennine Way (named after a walking trail in the dividing range of mountains in Northern England) has pockets too and a nice secure zipper top with a bound finish which will take you from country to town in a heartbeat.

Pattern Rating: confident beginner with some knowledge assumed.

Finished Size: 16 1⁄2” tall x 17” wide x 6” deep

Suggested Fabrics: quilting weight cotton, denim, canvas, furnishing fabrics,
linen, needle cord.

Gather these supplies:
Fabric:
1⁄2 yd. canvas for the main outer
12” oilcloth for the outer base trim
3⁄4 yd. lining fabric. Pure cotton is always best

Interfacing:
1 yd. Style-vil foam interfacing (Vlieseline) or By Annie's Soft & Stable
Fat Eighth S320 fusible interfacing (Vlieseline) or Pellon Craft Fuse

Everything Else:
19 1⁄2” #5 zipper for the tip zip
5” #5 zipper for the front outer pocket
7” #3 plastic zipper for an internal zipper box pocket
2 1⁄4 yds. x 1” wide cotton webbing for the main strap
1 1⁄2 yds. x 1” wide cotton webbing for the top handles and the D ring tabs
Scrap of leather or vegan leather for the handle trim. You need less than a Fat Eighth but this is a handy size to buy.
3x 1” D rings
3x 1” swivel clips
2x 1” strap adjusters
Something to decorate the zipper pulls. I love a long piece of leather or vegan leather (about 1⁄4” wide x 10-12” long). You can also use ribbon, baker’s twine or a metal charm. You will usually have enough off-cut from the handle trims
Clear drying glue or some other fray stopper for treating the ends of the webbing Coordinating threads for all fabrics and trims
Your usual sewing needs including scissors, markers, and extra feet for your sewing machine (zipper foot for example). You know, the usual stuff!

A bit about the Windermere Sling Bag....

Mostly when I carry a bag, I want a hands free option. I have been that way since I was very little so I guess that it is here to stay. I love a great backpack but they can be awkward. What was needed to fill the gap was a sling – somewhere halfway between a cross body bag and a backpack. It is secure, accessible and easy to carry. It has to have lots of pockets too to carry your essentials but it mustn’t be too big. Or too small. Quite a big ask but I think that we have achieved it!

Pattern Rating: confident beginner with some knowledge assumed.

Finished Size: 11 1⁄2” tall x 7 1⁄2” wide x 3” deep

Suggested Fabrics: quilting weight cotton, denim, canvas, furnishing fabrics, linen, needle cord, waxed cotton, oilcloth

Gather these supplies:
Fabric:
1⁄2 yd. canvas or similar fabric for the outer. I am using waxed cotton this time.
1 yd. cotton fabric for the lining (this includes the bias binding needs. You can also opt for purchased bias tape and then you only need 3⁄4 yd. of lining fabric).
TIP: I actually ran out of fabric for the lining (the pockets take a bit) but I was desperate to use this great print from Art Gallery Fabrics and I had less that 3⁄4 yd. So I made my bias binding out of a coordinating solid. That works too!

Interfacing:
1 yd. style-vil foam interfacing (Vlieseline) or by Annie's Soft & Stable
Fat eighth S320 fusible interfacing (Vlieseline) or Pellon Craft Fuse

Everything Else:
1x 17” #5 zipper for the main top zip. This can be a continuous zipper too which is what I am using here. I have also added two zipper pulls to mine to make a two way zipper. Remember to cut 1 1/2" longer if using continuous to allow for the zipper tape ends.
1x 6” #3 zipper for the concealed zip in the front. Again, a continuous zip is great and it doesn’t have to be heavy duty this time.
1x 5” #3 plastic zipper to coordinate with the lining for the inner zipper box pocket
1 1⁄4 yd. of 1 1⁄2” wide cotton webbing for the adjustable strap (this may be longer or shorter than you actually need. It is a guide only and the length depends on the size of the user).
1x 1 1⁄2” rectangle ring
1x 1 1⁄2” bag slider
Something to decorate the zipper pulls. My favourite is leather or vegan leather cut at 1⁄4” wide and about 7-8” long. But you can use ribbon or baker’s twine too.
Clear drying glue suitable for fabric Coordinating threads for all fabrics and trims
Your usual sewing needs including scissors, markers, and extra feet for your sewing machine (zipper foot for example). You know, the usual stuff!
