Glory Box takes the idea of collecting clothing and linens in a box for your future and borrows it's name from a Portishead song.

Although an outdated tradition, the process of collecting beautiful fabrics and keeping them in a special place, a Glory Box, for the future clicked with me as a quilter who hoards fabrics. The design of the quilt lends itself and gives space for fussy cutting and showing off your special fabric. Glory Box works in a minimal solid palette and scrappy mix alike.

Glory Box is made up of six different blocks (boxes) of similar construction which vary in colour placement to create repeating columns. Instructions included in this pattern provide information on block construction with guides for each different block assembly. There is a layout guide for lap and throw size quilt tops, a colouring page and templates for appliqué.

Information on appliqué techniques to accompany this pattern can be found in the resources page on my website under Pattern Resources: https://lucyengels.com/pages/resources

Cutting guides are for a Lap Quilt / Small Throw (48’ x 48’) and Throw size (64” x 64”).

You will need: sewing machine, thread, sewing machine needles for piecing and quilting, rotary cutter, quilting ruler, cutting mat, starch (optional).

A scant 1/4" seam allowance is used throughout and assumes 40" wide yardage.
