Do Me A Favor
Here's a lovely introductory piano solo of a now long-forgotten song of the day, demonstrating Fats' delicate use of dynamics and ornamentation. The 1935 Associated Transcription sessions are a wonderfully intimate glimpse of Fats as a sort of "cabaret performer" as for the bulk of the tracks, it's just him and his piano.
This song must've been a favourite of Fats' as he performed it in the very first recording session with His Rhythm the year before in 1934.
Here are the notes as best as I can make out but there is so much more going on, so always refer to the actual recordings as the ultimate source for interpretation.
