Year 5 Term 2 Homeschool Program
Year 5 – Term 2
The Order of Balance & Justice
This Year 5 Term 2 learning program has been thoughtfully designed as a continuation of Term 1, supporting families seeking calm, purposeful, and deen-centred learning at home. It builds gently on previously developed skills and understanding, while continuing to provide structure without rigidity and the flexibility families need to adapt learning to their household.
Term 2 centres on the order of balance and justice, helping children explore how Allah has created the world with order, fairness, and accountability. Learning encourages children to reflect on justice, responsibility, and balance within themselves, their relationships, and the wider world. All learning is grounded in an Islamic worldview, shaping how children understand knowledge, action, justice, and responsibility. The Qur’an and authentic hadith form the primary sources of learning, supported by age-appropriate texts that can be adapted according to availability.
Lessons are designed to support growing independence, allowing children to engage confidently with learning while remaining supported by the parent when needed.
This is a complete term-long learning program, not a worksheet pack or scripted curriculum. It supports parents in planning, delivering, assessing, and recording learning across the term, while encouraging understanding, reflection and steady growth rather than pressure or content overload.
Learning is planned with reference to the Australian Curriculum (ACARA) Year 5 outcomes, focusing on key skills, concepts and understanding. This approach allows the program to be adapted internationally while remaining age-appropriate and academically sound.
What’s Covered in Term 2 (At a Glance)
English
Children develop persuasive reading, writing, and speaking skills while exploring ideas of fairness and justice in texts. Learning focuses on forming and expressing opinions, building clear reasons, using complex sentences, refining persuasive letters, and communicating respectfully through both written and oral language.
Mathematics
Learning centres on measurement, number, and data. Children explore length, perimeter, area, capacity, volume, fractions, and decimals through practical contexts, estimation, comparison, and problem-solving. Emphasis is placed on reasoning, fairness, accuracy, and real-life application.
Humanities (HASS – Geography & Civics)
Children examine how balance, justice and fairness are shaped by place, resources, movement and human actions. Learning explores how physical features, climate, borders, and access to resources influence communities, opportunity, and quality of life, locally and globally.
Science
Learning focuses on systems and balance within the human body, the Earth and natural environments. Children explore patterns, change, and the impact of human choices, recognising how thoughtful actions can protect or restore balance in the world Allah has created.
Personal Development & Wellbeing (PDHPE)
Children explore fairness, respect, cooperation, and ethical decision-making in relationships and shared spaces. Learning supports emotional awareness, empathy, teamwork, safe choices, and responsibility within communities and physical activity contexts.
Creative Arts & Movement
Visual arts form the core creative focus, using colour, composition, symbols, and sequencing to explore balance, impact, systems, and cause and effect. Guidance is provided for integrating drama, music, dance, and movement through geography, science, and physical education.
Curriculum & Parent Support
The program includes a week-by-week learning focus aligned with Australian Curriculum (ACARA) Year 5 outcomes, alongside guidance for planning, delivery, assessment and recordkeeping. Optional extension and consolidation weeks are included to support flexibility, reflection, and deeper learning.
This program is designed for families who value involvement, flexibility, and trust in the learning process. It is not about rushing content or meeting unrealistic expectations, but about nurturing children who think carefully, act justly, and recognise the balance Allah has placed within His creation.
May Allah awj allow this resource to be beneficial in your homeschooling journey.
