The Tamalada by Maya De La Torre

Synopsis: In an effort to bridge the gap between her parents and her estranged sister Luisa, Aracelis revives her abuelas's old Christmas tradition: the tamale-making party. In the midst of being inundated with the various food preparation tasks and the ticking deadline that is her family's arrival, she is joined by her younger brother, Santiago, who might make the cooking process easier, if he doesn't annoy her to death first.

Maya De La Torre is a writer and performer based in Los Angeles, California. She earned her Master of Arts degree in Classical Acting from the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, as well as her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Theatre and English from California Lutheran University. She has written several plays ranging from dramatic adaptations of classical myths and stories to playful pieces for young audiences. The latter, Make Believe, having won the People's Choice Award at PlayGround-LA. She is a member of the Miranda Family Fellowship. In her free time, you can find her trying out new recipes in the kitchen, playing Dungeons and Dragons, or photosynthesizing outside.
