Tomonoura Light

Tomonoura in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima is far more than the home of Ponyo, the adorable Ghibli animated character. It is an active fishing port with a beautifully-preserved historical district and many traditional buildings, including this old stone Edo-style port light that sits on the edge of the harbor, welcoming seafarers from far and wide. It’s a very peaceful place to visit at sundown when the soft yellow lights just start to turn on around the town. A calm scene to bring peace to a busy life.
