The Sea of Cortez is the original home of the lustrous black pearls so prized throughout Europe beginning in the 16th century. Guaymas (hear it pronounced) is the current home of pearl production in the region, providing some of the worlds most lustrous gems from the sea.

The lustre of this silk/merino yarn when combined with the beautiful bead stitch, brought pearls to mind, while Molly’s Lace border—worked at 90° to the rest of the cowl—dances like waves against the shore.
