Class will be recorded and the recording will be available for 30 days afterwards.
Once you add this technique to your knitting toolbox, you may never want to go back to any other method of carrying floats! The ladderback jacquard technique will improve the tension of your stranded knitting while allowing you to span much larger areas between stitches. This technique adds stretch to the floats while preventing the alternate color from peeking through, and can be applied to nearly any form of stranded knitting.
In this class you'll learn how to add ladderback jaquard to patterns even when they don't call for it. We'll look at different ways ladderback can be charted, and try several methods for beginning and ending the ladder so you can customize the technique to best fit your knitting style.
Supplies: Smooth worsted- to Aran-weight yarn in two contrasting colors and your choice of needles in a compatible size (US #7-9) suitable for working a small-circumference project in the round (dpns, magic loop, or two circulars).
Homework: With your lighter color yarn, cast on 40 stitches and join to work in the round. With the same color, knit 2 more rounds of stockinette stitch.
Level: Advanced — Students should already be comfortable knitting stranded colorwork, working at a small circumference in the round, and working increases and decreases.
Day and Time: Class takes place Saturday, February 7 at 9:30-11:30am Pacific Time (10:30am Mountain Time, 11:30am Central, 12:30pm Eastern time) via Zoom.
You will receive the class handout and Zoom access info immediately upon purchasing the class, both on this website and in your email inbox. Please save the handout and link somewhere accessible. If you don't see these in your email inbox, please check your spam filter and then reach out to me at deviousknitter@gmail.com.
I record each virtual class session and make the recording available to registered participants for 30 days after the date of the class, so if something prevents you from attending, you will still have access to the class recording and all materials.
