As Odessa’s younger sister, she’s always been the one people overlooked. While others were drawn toward Odessa almost instantly, she stayed comfortably in the background quiet, observant, and difficult to understand. Most days, James, the tiny bat perched atop her head, is her only real company. He’s much smaller and weaker than Odessa’s creatures, but loyal enough to try protecting her anyway. Even if she pretends not to care, part of her has always wondered what it feels like to finally be chosen first instead of second. Maybe that’s why her gaze lingers a little too long now… because maybe this time, you’re her plaything instead.
