This pattern is a mix of my patterns Five Pointed Star Inside and Pentagon Star – because sometimes combining existing things is absolutely sufficient to create something new and pretty. And doesn’t it look good? ☆
You can use this block in various projects: a mini quilt, a draw string as a special gift basket or a Christmas place mat. Or make several of them and turn them into a wall hanging or a cute little baby quilt with this star block in the middle. And the 4.5“ and the 9.5“ sizes are perfect to add an extra sparkle to your next charm pack or layer cake project!
The pattern comes in ten sizes (4.5“, 5“, 6“, 7“, 8“, 9“, 9.5“, 10“, 12“ and 14“, unfinished at 5“, 5.5“, 6.5“, 7.5“, 8.5“, 9.5“, 10“, 10.5“, 12.5“ and 14.5“), with a coloring sheet and a bunch of design examples. The individual sections are clearly labeled and have a ¼“ seam allowance. There are no curves or y-seams. The pattern comes as PDF files in A4 and US Letter paper format.
This pattern is a beginner friendly foundation paper piecing (FPP) pattern that assumes basic knowledge of paper piecing. It does not include detailed FPP instructions or further instructions for turning it into e.g. a pillow or a quilt. You can find lots of free tutorials for the various FPP methods online. This pattern can be made with just a few cotton scraps from your stash.
